LESSON 1: WHAT IS HEALTH?

In this first lesson, I examine what health really is and look at areas of our lives that affect our health other that just physical health. Our health is also greatly impacted by factors such as our emotional well-being, our spiritual health as well as other factors that I discuss in this lesson. I teach the 6 Dimensions of Wellness that was created by the National Wellness Institute in order to expand your understanding of health and how many different areas of your life are contributing to your health. By understanding the concepts in this lesson, you will have a more holistic awareness of your health which will empower you to begin improving your own health.




LESSON 1: WHAT IS HEALTH?

In this first lesson, I examine what health really is and look at areas of our lives that affect our health other that just physical health. Our health is also greatly impacted by factors such as our emotional well-being, our spiritual health as well as other factors that I discuss in this lesson. I teach the 6 Dimensions of Wellness that was created by the National Wellness Institute in order to expand your understanding of health and how many different areas of your life are contributing to your health. By understanding the concepts in this lesson, you will have a more holistic awareness of your health which will empower you to begin improving your own health.

LESSON 2: OUR POWERFUL MIND

Our mind plays a significant role in our health and therefore it is essential that we have a good understanding of how our mind works. Firstly, our thoughts and feelings have a direct impact on our health through biological processes in the body. Secondly, our mind is responsible for the daily decisions we make  in regard to the habits that support our health. Since the mind plays such an important role in our health, it is important that we have a better understanding of how our mind works. In this lesson, I present a visual image that helps to illustrate how our mind works and understanding the conscious and subconscious mind.  This will enable you to make improvements in your health by making changes in your mind through thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.

LESSON 3: EMOTIONS

In this lesson, I teach about the autonomic nervous system and that its two divisions that play a key role in the health of our body. The sympathetic nervous system is the stress response and I discuss the effects that occur to the body upon activation of this system. The parasympathetic nervous system is the growth/repair response, and I will cover the benefits of this system being activated. These two systems are always working in our body and in order to use them in our favour, we must understand how our body regulates itself through the nervous system. You will learn ways to enable repair or self-healing to occur through the natural responses of the body.

LESSON 4: AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM

Emotions are an internal force that play a key role in how we feel as well as directly affecting the results in our life, including our health. As humans, we very easily become stuck on negative emotions that have resulted from past life experiences. In order to improve our health, it is essential that we make improvements in our emotional state and live the majority of our life in positive emotions such as gratitude, happiness, peace, and compassion. You will learn things in this lesson that will give you a better understanding of emotions and the necessary steps to move forward in your own emotional journey, therefore improving your health.

LESSON 5: MIND BODY CONNECTION

In this lesson, I discuss the role that epigenetics play in the health of our body. Epigenetics is a growing field of science that is showing the effect that our mind has on the expression of our DNA. It has long been accepted that a lot of diseases of the body are genetic in nature, passed down from our parents. It is being discovered that it is in fact certain beliefs, perceptions and lifestyle habits that are passed down  from our family and society that result in certain diseases. Epigenetics literally means above the gene, inferring that something is having an effect on gene expression. In learning the concepts in this lesson, you will feel empowered that you have more control over your health and longevity than was once believed.

LESSON 6: OUR BODY'S ENERGY

Our body contains electromagnetic energy within and around us that can be a powerful force if we learn how to use it in a regenerative way. We are constantly experiencing things in our life that are depleting the energy from our body and it is important to learn more about this in order to improve our health. In this lesson, I will also discuss the important connection between the heart and the brain since the heart is the organ in our body that produces the largest electromagnetic field in our body. You will learn how to create coherence between the heart and the brain which will result in improved health, better brain function, as well as many other benefits.

LESSON 7: OUR PHYSICAL BODY

In order to have a healthy physical body we need to have a healthy diet, get enough exercise and adequate sleep. Obesity is often the result of a hormone issue (primarily insulin) in our body and in order to successfully release weight we must eat the proper types of food in order to reduce our levels of insulin. In this lesson, I classify food into four groups called builders, eliminators, congestors and lubricators. You will learn what each group consists of and how much from each group that we should consume in order to improve our health. Exercise is a very important part of our everyday life and I discuss some guidelines to help to incorporate this into our daily routine.

A good self image is vital if we are to have the health that we desire. The results that we have for our health are really a reflection of the thoughts and beliefs that we have of ourselves. In this lesson, I discuss a process for improving our self image as this is an important step in improving our health. I will also talk about imagination and the important role this plays in reaching our goal. We often think that imagination is only for kids but in fact this is a powerful mental tool that we need to use in order to obtain things we want, including our health.  As you take steps towards using your imagination and improving your self image, better health will be reflected back to you.

LESSON 9: BELIEVE IN YOUR HEALTH

The health that you presently experience is a reflection of your beliefs therefore in order to improve your health, you must change your beliefs. This is such an important lesson as I will discuss the fact that our beliefs are a powerful inner technology that we possess. When our beliefs are in alignment with the results that we desire, this is when the health you desire will become present in the physical world. It is not our fault that we have self limiting beliefs, but we must take responsibility for changing them in order to take charge over our health. We all possess this powerful force, and it will allow your mind and body to act in a life affirming way.

LESSON 10: HABITS

It is of course the habits in your daily life that determine the health that you have in your life. In this lesson, I will talk about what a habit is and a strategy for incorporating the positive habits that you desire into your daily routine. I will cover the most important habits that you need to be working toward in order to move forward on the health scale. Always remember that this is a journey and we do not change our beliefs and habits instantly.  When we are taking those small steps towards better health, we will feel better about ourselves, and change will occur over time.
